Behind the Scenes: “Answer the Call” - A Police Recruitment Video with Nike Inspired Pace

Chris Snow

Earlier this year, we had the chance to collaborate with House of Common and Earnscliffe Strategies on a campaign that was both ambitious and inspiring. The brief? Create a recruitment video for the Police Association of Ontario that felt more like a Nike spot than a traditional PSA. The campaign name: “Answer the Call.”

That title set the tone for everything we created. This wasn’t about a checklist of job requirements—it was about tapping into something deeper. What does it mean to step up? To commit to something bigger than yourself? To answer the call to serve your community?

Us and Director Remi Theriault approached the project like we were building a short film. Every choice—camera movement, lighting, pacing—was designed to evoke energy, grit, and purpose. We wanted viewers to not only see what the job entails, but to feel the adrenaline, the focus, and the pride that come with wearing the uniform.

Working alongside the teams at House of Common and Earnscliffe made the process seamless. The creative direction and trust from Remi allowed us to lean into cinematic storytelling and push the piece beyond standard recruitment content. On set, it felt less like shooting a commercial and more like shaping a story that mattered.

The result is a campaign we’re incredibly proud of: “Answer the Call” is bold, modern, and emotionally resonant—crafted to inspire the next generation of officers to step forward.

At Ode, projects like this remind us why we do what we do. Great filmmaking isn’t just about stunning visuals; it’s about capturing a mission and sharing it in a way that moves people.
